So, what’s new for this year? Our Executive Director recently met with several members to gain a deeper understanding of what they value most in their ACSA membership and what they hope to see moving forward. Following these conversations, the Executive Committee met to consider how this feedback should shape our strategic direction for the year ahead. Over the coming weeks and months, we will begin sharing updates and outlining the changes that will guide how ACSA operates and delivers professional learning. In summary, our four key objectives are: - Curriculum Perspectives
- Professional Learning
- Symposiums and Conferences
- Advocacy
With these objectives in mind, there will be some important shifts in how we approach our work this year. As part of the AAAE — the Australian Alliance of Associations in Education — it became increasingly clear in the final months of 2025 that we are truly stronger together. We are committed to forming closer alliances with other education associations to share expertise, amplify our impact, and strengthen our collective voice. This collaboration will open the door to a richer range of opportunities, including: - enhanced support and access to professional learning,
- combined panel discussions featuring diverse perspectives,
- shared journal reading events and author Q&A sessions,
- interviews,
- and more regular research updates.
Anna, our Executive Director, is currently meeting with many association Presidents to co‑design a year-long professional learning framework that will reflect the needs and priorities of the sector. |

What became clear last year is that there is now significant competition for both conference venues and attendance, and the demands on organising high‑quality conferences and symposiums have increased substantially. As a national organisation, it is also challenging to identify locations that effectively support and accommodate all of our members. With this in mind, this year we will be exploring two different approaches to how we deliver our events. - A one day online symposium which will include our AGM
- Support and the provision of a stream at two other associations which form part of the AAAE.

With nearly 200,000 downloads each year, there is exciting work happening in this field. We will continue to navigate the changing landscape of curriculum. We shall focus even more on the role we can play in curriculum reform and debate within the political sphere. 2026 sees a line up of meetings and relationships with state and territory Departments of Education, as well as involvement with AAAE on the proposed Teaching and Learning commission. |
